Is There a Town at Mammoth Mountain?

Mammoth Mountain doesn't technically have a "town" in the true sense of the word, since it's actually within the town of Mammoth Lakes. That said, there’s a place perched in the heart of this popular California resort destination that comes pretty close to being somewhat like a town because it's the hub of a lot of the action here. We're talking about The Village at Mammoth. Here's what you need to know about it, brought to you by the friendly folks at ASO Mammoth, your year-round one-stop shop for everything from fishing gear to mountain biking equipment and Mammoth snowboard rentals. Mammoth Has a Bustling “Town-Like” Village The Village at Mammoth has the look and feel of a charming traditional town. In terms of accessibility, it's like a town because you can directly access it via a free gondola ride from Canyon Lodge. You can even ski your way to The Village by way of the Village Ski Back Trail. There are free two-hour parking spaces and a paid lot. In this bustling hub, you can stop at the Mountain Center to get practically everything you need to start your day once you arrive at Mammoth Mountain, including lift tickets. If you need to brush up on your skills while at Mammoth, you can also sign up for lessons here during skiing and snowboarding season, which typically runs though Memorial Day weekend. The Village Is a Premier Event Destination for Everyone You'll also get a town-like vibe when you stop at The Village if you prefer to absorb yourself in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Throughout the course of the year, The Village hosts an assortment of events, including: • Various theme-focused festivals • Parades and annual family fun days • Wine walks • Free events with live music and DJs • Seasonal celebrations like Oktoberfest If that's not enough, you can also check out movies at The Village Plaza. Typically, movies are shown during the summer months on Thursdays and Sundays. Last year's lineup included Zoolander, Frozen 2, and many other family-friendly faves. As far as festivals go, the ones planned at The Village for 2022 include the Mammoth Yoga Festival, which runs from June 16th through the 19th. There's also a Summer Jam planned at The Village for September 24th and 25th just as summer is wrapping up. You can even catch a spectacular fireworks show from Mammoth Mountain’s Village on July 4th. In years past, this same location has hosted jazz and reggae festivals. The Village even hosts cook-offs every now and then, where attendees are treated to mouthwatering chili, well-stuffed burgers, and many other goodies. Mammoth Lakes Is Easily Accessible, Too! If you prefer to explore beyond the town-like atmosphere of The Village at Mammoth, you’re welcome to head to the actual nearby town of Mammoth Lakes.
