When Does Ski Season Start at Mammoth Mountain?

Mammoth Mountain has officially set the date for the start of ski season for 2022–23. The popular Eastern Sierra resort has already scheduled the kickoff party for Friday, November 11th. Here’s what you need to know as you get ready for another year of skiing and winter fun Mammoth style, brought to you by the friendly folks at ASO Mammoth, the place to go for high-quality Mammoth ski rental.

Fresh Powder Awaits

Mammoth literally has it down to a science when it comes to getting things ready for the skiing season. Expect the trails and terrain to be covered with plenty of fresh powder for your skiing enjoyment. All you’ll need to do is get your lift tickets and ski gear, which can be rented locally if you prefer not to bring yours with you.

Get Your Season Pass

Mammoth does have single-day and same-day passes you can purchase if you’ll only be visiting every now and then during the season. However, if you’ll be a frequent Mammoth Mountain visitor during the upcoming season, you may prefer a season pass.

Mammoth is one of several resorts that participate in the Ikon Pass program. This is essentially a season pass that keeps on giving. Perks include:

• Discounts on lift tickets
• Early-ups on certain days so you can have access to ski trails an hour before they officially open
• Meal discounts
• Opportunities to allow friends and family members to use your pass

The Ikon Pass can be purchased via the Mammoth website now. The resort is already offering discounts for new and returning passholders.

Cross-Country Passes Are Available, Too

If you prefer cross-country skiing, Mammoth has much to offer. The resort has plenty of areas where you can enjoy a more open and unrestrained skiing experience. Cross-country passes are also available to further enhance your savings.

Prepare for Your Ski Trip to Mammoth

In addition to getting your passes and lift tickets, there are some other steps you can take to get ready for another ski season at Mammoth. We recommend checking your skis and boots. Also, it’s a good idea to prepare for the new ski season by:

• Packing some warm-weather clothing
• Downloading the Mammoth winter app so you’ll be able to streamline your experience
• Selecting your lodging if you’ll be staying for more than one day
• Purchasing your lift tickets ahead of time

You may also want to check out what’s happening in the town of Mammoth Lakes on opening day or at any other time during the ski season. Luckily, Mammoth makes it easy to do this with free shuttle service directly into town from all base lodges.

Check Out the Winter Kickoff Party

If you have plans to attend this year’s Opening Day celebration at Mammoth Mountain, you’ll need to make your way to the Mammoth Mountain Broadway Express via Chair 2. Lift tickets are required. The event takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., so you’ll have plenty of time to be part of the fun!
