The mountains may be open and thriving now that the worst of COVID – 19 has passed, but the fallout from the pandemic is still affecting the ski and snowboard world. In fact, the Alterra COVID – 19 lawsuit is still playing out as this is being written.
If you’re an Ikon Pass holder, that may mean you’re entitled to settlement funds from a lawsuit against Alterra (Owner of the Ikon Pass) because of what happened during the early months of the pandemic.
To help clear the air about the refund that will come from the Alterra COVID – 19 lawsuit, the ASO Mammoth team has put together a short guide to what you need to know. Read all about it below if you think you may qualify for a refund.
Only 2019/20 Ikon Pass Holders are Eligible for Refunds
The Alterra COVID – 19 lawsuit was filed after ski mountains closed due to the pandemic and people who had paid for Ikon Passes were unable to access the mountains.
Eventually, a settlement was reached to refund eligible Ikon Pass holders. As previously mentioned though, you must have had a 2019/20 Ikon Pass to qualify for a refund.
Alterra COVID – 19 Refund Options
If you’re eligible for a refund, then you will either receive a pass credit towards a 2023-24 or 2024-25 Ikon Pass or Ikon Base Pass or a voucher that can be used to purchase single day lift tickets at Alterra operated mountains until 2025.
How Much Will You Get from the Alterra COVID – 19 Lawsuit?
That depends on how much you used your Ikon pass in the 2019/20 season before the mountains closed down, specifically before March 15, 2020.
For example, if you used your pass more than 7 times then the credit will only be $10. If you used it only once then the credit will be $150.
The amount of discount your voucher earns you also depends on how much you used your Ikon Pass during the 2019/20 season, with one important caveat.
In order to receive a voucher, you needed to file a claim in January of 2023 to qualify. If you did not file the claim form, then you will instead only qualify for the credit towards a new Ikon Pass.
