Though its summertime and we love to fish, hike, camp, backpack and mountain bike mammoth, there is two things left to do this week only… ski and snowboard!
This week marks the final week Mammoth Mountain will be open for skiing and snowboarding for the 2016-2017 season. Set to close August 6th, snow sports enthusiasts have until next Sunday at 12p.m. to take a run down the legendary Mammoth Mountain. Read further for hours, snow conditions and trail information. With a base depth of 6′-20′ inches and a daily low of 50 degrees and a high of 70 degrees skiing in a tank top has never seemed so inviting. For the next week the mountain will remain open to skiers and snowboarders from 7:30a.m.-12:00p.m. The trails that will remain open are available at the Main Lodge and by going up the Gondola. Most of our staff have said this type of snow is not for the beginner or someone looking for perfect conditions but if you are experienced skier or snowboarder that can’t wait 4-5 more months to get on the mountain again… then this is your week in Mammoth!
With the slopes closing at noon each day, this leaves you with another almost 20 hours left in your day to enjoy everything else Mammoth Lakes has to offer. Our recommendation is to stop by Adventure Sports Outpost in the morning to get all of your snow rentals going then head back down the mountain and rent mountain bikes for 50% off. This is one of our best offers of the season to make sure you get the best of our winter and summer sports while in Mammoth!
