Sponsored by Mammoth Hospital, the Mammoth Gran Fondo is a bike ride and race unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Spanning a 102-mile route, it’s a truly unique experience thanks to the gorgeous High Sierra views. If you have a fondness for bike riding, the friendly folks at ASO Mammoth, your year-round one-stop shop for everything from mountain biking gear to Mammoth ski rentals, offer some of the top reasons to come to the Mammoth Gran Fondo on Saturday, September 10th, 2022.
It’s an Easy, Fun Ride
You don’t need to be an expert rider to participate in or enjoy the Mammoth Gran Fondo. The pavement is smooth, and there’s not much traffic to contend with as you ride. In fact, there’s only one stoplight along the entire route, so you won’t have to worry about rider bottlenecks either as you enjoy the journey.
It’s a Great Group Event
You can always make a solo trip to Mammoth for the Gran Fondo in early September if you prefer to challenge yourself on the mountain. However, you can also come to this riding event with a group of friends and riding enthusiasts. And as long as you’re in the Mammoth area, you can always make a weekend out of it and spend some time at Mammoth Mountain or in the town of Mammoth Lakes.
You Can Fuel Up & Recharge as You Ride
In case your stomach starts rumbling as you ride, there will be seven food stations along the route. You can simply pull up and get some carbs, sip on some water, or just take a breather before getting back to the route.
You Can Get Your Photo Taken for Free
It’s not easy or entirely safe to take selfies as you ride. Let the event staff take care of this all-important task for you as you work your way along the picturesque route. The photos taken are absolutely free of charge, so that’s an added perk.
There’s an After-Ride Party at the Village
Mammoth definitely knows how to make any summer event even more enjoyable. After you get done riding along the Gran Fondo route, make your way to the after-ride party. It will be at the resort’s main hub of activity, the Village at Mammoth. The party will include a mix of food and family-friendly entertainment.
Mammoth Is Offering Lodging Discounts
If you’ll be staying for the entire weekend of the Gran Fondo or coming a bit earlier, you can always stay at one of Mammoth’s on-site properties. The resort owns and operates an assortment of lodging sites you can book ahead of time to make the event even more memorable. What’s more, Mammoth is offering a 20 percent discount for Gran Fondo participants.
Treat Yourself to a Pre-Ride Pasta Dinner
Fuel up for the Mammoth Gran Fondo first by enjoying a free pre-ride pasta dinner. Simply make your way to 53 Kitchen & Cocktails, which is located at 6201 Minaret Road. The pre-ride dinner runs from 5 to 9 p.m. It costs $35 per person, and no reservations are required. Plus, you get all-you-can-eat pasta to fuel up on carbs.
