November at Mammoth Mountain typically means a few runs open with more terrain gradually opening throughout the month.
November 2022 has been completely different thanks to a series of early season storms that has dumped between 4 and 6 feet of snow on the mountain. Riding powder this early in the year is a rare treat, so before we head out the door for the slopes the ASO Mammoth team has put together a quick list of what’s open at Mammoth Mountain for November 2022.
Read all about it below before you visit, then stop by the ASO Mammoth shop for the best ski and snowboard rentals in Mammoth Lakes!
Main Lodge is Still the Only Lodge Open for Now
Many people see that snow is falling by the foot on Mammoth Mountain and assume that it means most of the mountain is open, but when it’s this early in the season it takes more than just a ton of snow to open the entire mountain.
Although there is plenty of snow for the moment, other parts of the mountain must be prepared for skiing and snowboarding before they can be opened for the season. As a result, Main Lodge is still the only lodge that is operating currently.
Chairs are Running Out of Canyon Lodge
Just because a lodge isn’t open doesn’t mean that chairs are not running outside of them.
Canyon Lodge opens on 11/11 with limited services at the lodge, so while you’ll be able to park and ride a few chairs nearby you won’t have full access to the lodge and its shops and restaurants.
At the moment, Rollercoaster, Chair 21, and Schoolyard are expected to begin running from Canyon along with Face Lift, Broadway, and the Unbound chair. The Village Gondola will also be running from the heart of The Village to Canyon Lodge for easy trips between the two.
It’s important to note that a few parts of the mountain will stop operating after Sunday, 11/13.
They include:
- Canyon Lodge
- Schoolyard
- The Village Gondola
Canyon and Eagle Lodge Are Not Scheduled to Open Fully Until December
Although you can still have plenty of fun around the lodges right now, Eagle and Canyon Lodge are not scheduled to be open until December 16th.
However, the Mammoth Mountain team has hinted that they are working to open Canyon and Eagle even earlier than that. Stay tuned to their social media accounts for more information!
The Summit is Open!
Taking a run down from the summit is a must for anyone riding at Mammoth Mountain thanks to the stunning views and amount of terrain accessible from there.
Fortunately, the summit recently opened. There will be plenty of snow waiting for you at the top, so head to Mammoth’s summit during your next visit!
