Buying Gifts for Skiers and Snowboarders is about as hard as skiing and snowboarding themselves.
To start, there’s a ton of skiing and snowboard gear out there, and if you’re not a skier or a snowboarder yourself then it can be hard to tell what’s right to buy. Even if you are a skier or snowboarder the person you’re buying for could be extremely specific about what gear they like.
Despite all that, Black Friday is the best time to find deals on skier and snowboarder gifts, so we’ve made a short gift guide for black Friday here! Read all about it, then visit the ASO Mammoth shop for the best deals on ski and snowboard rentals in Mammoth Lakes!
Ski and Snowboard Socks
Socks may not be the most exciting gift, but they’re one of the most important pieces of gear when skiing or snowboarding since they have a huge effect on how comfortable your feet are.
The ideal ski or snowboard socks are thin, durable, and moisture-wicking.
Although you may assume that ski and snowboard socks should be thick so that they’re warmer, if they’re too thick then they can cause problems. First off, thick socks can make your boots too tight. Not only will tight boots be uncomfortable, but the extra friction can cause blisters.
Lastly, if socks cause feet to sweat or they get wet and don’t wick away moisture then the skier or snowboarder’s feet will get colder much faster.
That’s why we recommend a thin sock made of a material that naturally wicks moisture like Marino Wool.
Multi-Tool
A multi-tool that has a screwdriver in it, typically a Philips head, can be extremely helpful while on the slope since they can be used for quick gear repairs or adjustments.
However, we should note that a multi-tool will only be useful if the person carrying it knows how to adjust their own gear, so this gift is best for an advanced skier or snowboarder.
Massage Gun or Foam Roller
Skiing and snowboarding are strenuous exercise, especially when done in intense periods over several days. That’s exactly what you do when on a ski trip, so a massage gun or foam roller is the perfect gift to keep skiers and snowboarders’ muscles ready to ride.
A massage gun will cost more than a foam roller, but you don’t have to know specific stretches to use it the way you would with a foam roller.
Hydration System
Anything that makes it easier to stay hydrated while skiing and snowboarding is going to be extremely helpful.
A backpack hydration system that makes drinking water on the go easy like a Camelbak is a great choice for a gift!
Base Layers
Just like socks, a thin moisture wicking base layer will be a great way to keep the skier or snowboarder in your life warm and dry while on the snow!
