Why You Should Visit Mammoth Before Year’s End

The Mammoth area has much to offer all year long. If you haven’t had a chance to visit Mammoth Mountain or the Mammoth area in general so far this year, there’s still time to enjoy the best of what this Eastern Sierra location has to offer. Below, the snow sports experts at ASO Mammoth, the place to go for high-quality Mammoth snowboard rental and skiing gear, offer some of the best reasons to come to Mammoth before the end of the year.

Fresh Snow

Mammoth Mountain is officially open for the 2022–23 winter season. This means plenty of fresh powder and some of the best skiing and snowboarding conditions in the entire country. What’s more, you don’t even need to worry about bringing your gear and related accessories. Everything you need can be conveniently rented when you get here.

Night of Lights

Make your way to Canyon Lodge at Mammoth Mountain in the middle of December to be treated to a night of beautiful Christmas lights. The Night of Lights is a family-friendly event that gives you access to added perks that include on-site beverages and treats as well as transportation to the town of Mammoth Lakes via a free shuttle that leaves from the lodge.

When: December 17th from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Canyon Blvd.
Cost: Free

The Village

The heart of Mammoth Mountain is reason enough to come to Mammoth before the end of the year. The Village regularly hosts on-site events and unique winter festivals. Check to see what’s going on before you arrive. Even if there’s nothing official planned, The Village is a good place to visit just for the atmosphere alone.

Scenic Gondola Rides

You don’t have to ski or snowboard to have a good time at Mammoth Mountain. You’re welcome to take a gondola ride all the way up to the summit of the mountain. You’ll need a ticket for the gondola, but the pricing is decent for the rides. Plus, there’s a café at the top where you can grab a bite to eat before heading back down.

Woolly’s Tube Park

Another way to enjoy Mammoth before the end of the year is to make your way to Woolly’s Tube Park. You’ll meet the Mammoth mascots and be treated to fast-paced fun that includes high-speed snow-tubing. Additional features that may be reason enough to come here before the end of the year include:

• A heated deck
• Adult beverages
• A spacious snow play area

You can purchase same-day tickets when you arrive to enjoy everything Woolly’s has to offer. However, you’ll need to make reservations in advance if you plan to come during a particularly busy time before the end of year, such as Christmas or New Year’s weekend.

Enjoying the Holidays Mammoth Style

The holidays are a lot more fun for everyone when you make Mammoth part of your plans. This can include eating locally in the town of Mammoth Lakes or on-site at Mammoth Mountain. The resort has many highly recommended restaurants where you can have all the holiday goodies you love. In fact, some of the local eateries have first-class chefs on staff, which means even more unique and tasty holiday meals.
