Summer youth camps are great opportunities for kids to build and strengthen friendships and relationships with siblings, but in a place with as many outdoor activities as Mammoth Lakes there is much more possible. From skating to wilderness exploring, Mammoth Lakes has a summer camp for every interest. We’ve listed a few of them below, but you can check out a full list of Mammoth Lakes Summer camps here!
Whether you’re hoping to give the children in your life wilderness experiences they would never have at home or strengthen relationships with their siblings, friends, or form new ones with other campers, Mammoth Mountain’s youth summer camp is the perfect place for your kids to grow and learn.
For summer 2019, Mammoth Summer Camp offers several 5-day sessions over the summer
with campers divided into two age groups of 8-12 years old and 13-15 years old. Campers will spend their 5 days enjoying incredible nature and outdoor activities such as horseback riding, biking, climbing, hiking, ecology, astronomy, and even wildlife tracking!
If you have a young snowboarder who can’t wait until the snow falls again to get back on a board, Wave Rave’s sponsored skate camp is a great way to keep them active and developing their skills with support from professionals. For the summer of 2019, Wave Rave Skate camps are taking place at skate parks all over Mammoth Lakes on June 19th -21st, July 3rd-5th, and July 17th-19th. Campers age 4–15 and of all experience levels are welcome and will be divided into three age groups.
Campers age 11-14 will explore the mountain biking trails around Mammoth Lakes for 5 days with guides showing them where and how to ride some of the best trails in the Eastern Sierras with an overnight camping trip on the 5th day! For 2019, the mountain bike camp will be held on August 5th-9th, June 24th-28th, and July 22nd-26th. Don’t forget about the girls only August 12th-16th session!
Teaching children wilderness skills early on establishes a foundation for future skills as well as an early respect and basic understanding of nature. Mammoth’s Wilderness Camp provides all of that as well as a chance to bond with fellow campers over a 4-day period for campers 4-14 years old. Campers will not only participate in activities like cave exploring and hiking but also survival shelter building and campfire activities. Wilderness camp will be held on August 5-9th, June 24th-28th, and July 22nd-26th.
Climbers age 4–14 can learn the thrill and rewards of climbing in a safe and educational environment at the Youth Climbing Camp. All gear is provided for campers who will be shadowed by professionals from Ground Up Climbing Guides. For 2019, Youth Climbing Camp will be held on June 17th-18th, July 1st-2nd, July 15th-16th, July 29th-30th, and August 19th-20th.
Mammoth offers more options than just outdoor camps, and the Youth Theater Drama Camp is one of the most popular. Drama camp is open to campers 5-17 years old and will take place over a 2-week period culminating in the performance of a play by two different age groups. In 2019, Theater Camp will be held on August 5th-August 17th.
