With the first storm of the year bringing in up to 16″, it seems winter has arrived in Mammoth Lakes! The ASO Mammoth team couldn’t be more excited, but we also know that many people still want to enjoy every last bit off fall before the seasons change.

Mammoth Mountain Opening Day 11/5/22
Winter has come early to Mammoth Mountain again, which means that opening day has been moved up just like it was last year.
This year, Mammoth Mountain’s opening day will be on November 5th at 8:30 am. Although the summit received plenty of snow, for the time being there will be 2 to 3 runs open out of Main Lodge along with a small terrain park for park riders. The mountain will continue to create more snow as long as temperatures allow, so more runs may be open soon.

Even with the small amount of terrain open though, the atmosphere on opening day is something that everyone should experience at least once. If you can, visit during opening day to see what we mean!
Tamarack XC Ski Center Opening Day 11/18/22
Cross country skiing may not get the same attention that downhill skiing and snowboarding do, but it’s also a great way to explore the beautiful Mammoth Lakes wilderness in winter.
If you know exactly what we’re talking about, then you may already have November 18th marked on your calendar since Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center is opening for the 2022/23 season that day.

Holiday Tree Lighting 11/25/22
The beginning of winter means that it’s holiday seasons, and there’s no better way to mark the start of the holidays than by lighting up a tree.
Mammoth Lakes knows that, so the holiday tree lighting will take place on 11/25 in the Village with live music and an appearance from Santa and Wooly. Stop by to fill up on holiday spirit and get a few photos in one of the best holiday atmospheres in the world.
Plus, the ice rink in the village will open on the same night so that you can enjoy even more holiday fun!
