Mammoth Supports Locals in Need with Community Food Bank

Mammoth Lakes may be a small town – especially without its typical stream of swinter (spring / winter) tourism – but it’s a small town with a big heart.

Mammoth Lakes Tourism partnered with US Foods to organize a drive-through food bank, to help members of the Mammoth community keep food on the table. Local businesses have generously come together to donate their time, talent and supplies to help make the food bank a success.

For the past three weeks, local residents have volunteered their time to organize and distribute fresh produce and food essentials to fellow Mammoth Lakes community members in need amidst the COVID-19 crisis. All items are offered to residents free of charge.

Here’s what you need to know:

Where is the food bank located?

The food bank is located in the Promenade on Main Street – next to Black Velvet Coffee and Sun & Ski Sports.

When can I pick up groceries?

The bank is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10AM – 12PM and 3 – 5PM.

What safety precautions are being taken?

All deliveries are handled outside and there is no direct contact between volunteers and food bank recipients.

Residents walk or drive up and park in designated parking spots outside the food bank, and a volunteer will welcome them from 6+ feet away and get their information. Volunteers safely deliver groceries outside, placing the food bags on a table for residents to pick up.

Can I donate money to support the food bank?

If you’d like to make a monetary donation, you may make an online donation to the Mammoth Community Foundation’s PayPal page, run by the Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce, which will help fund bank supplies.
