Everything You Need to Know about 2022’s Mammoth JazzFest

As is the case with the yearly VillageFest event, the annual Mammoth JazzFest is one of those recurring Mammoth-area traditions many people enjoy. If you have plans to visit Mammoth Mountain this summer and you have an appreciation for jazz and wine, consider timing your visit to coincide with this year’s JazzFest. The 2022 event is scheduled for the middle of July and will take place on-site at the resort. Here’s what you’ll need to know if you go, brought to you by the friendly folks at ASO Mammoth, your year-round one-stop shop for everything from fishing equipment and licenses to mountain biking gear and Mammoth ski rentals.

Wine Tasting Is Part of the Fun

The soothing and lively sounds characteristic of jazz pair perfectly with wine tasting, which is part of the event in the form of a wine walk. As you sample wines from local and regional wineries and vineyards, you’ll be treated to live jazz on the main stage. And while it’s officially referred to as a “wine walk,” you’re also welcome to sit down and relax as you enjoy your libations.

Expect a Mix of Exciting Jazz Sounds

Mammoth plans to kick things up a notch with this year’s JazzFest. In addition to traditional and contemporary jazz performances, expect a mix of jazz styles that include Latin, fusion, and some other variations falling within the jazz genre.

Find Out the Details

This year’s JazzFest is a non-ticketed event, meaning it’s free for all Mammoth Mountain visitors to attend. It’s set to take place on Friday, July 15th and Saturday, July 16th over by The Village, the primary hub for many of Mammoth’s on-site events. On both days, JazzFest starts at 12 p.m. and comes to an end at 10 p.m.

Consider an Overnight or Multi-Day Stay

If you prefer to turn JazzFest into a long mid-July weekend, consider an overnight stay at Mammoth Mountain. In fact, the resort is offering discounts of up to 15 percent for people staying at any of the Mammoth Lodging Collection properties during JazzFest. The list of properties Mammoth Mountain manages and owns includes The Village Lodge at Mammoth. We mention this because it’s conveniently located where JazzFest will be going on. Just make sure to book as far in advance as possible so you’re able to secure a booking on the same days as JazzFest.

JazzFest Is a Perfect Excuse to Explore the Mammoth Area

JazzFest can still be your main focus as you visit Mammoth Mountain. However, an extended stay that starts on Friday and continues until Sunday or Monday gives you plenty of time to do, see, and enjoy more of what Mammoth has to offer. Directly within the resort and in the Mammoth area, possibilities for additional things to do include:

• Sampling the tasty dishes and treats at eateries on-site and in Mammoth Lakes
• Hiking from the top or mid-point of the mountain
• Renting a bike locally and cycling along your preferred path at Mammoth’s Bike Park
• Heading to one of the well-stocked lakes in Mammoth Lakes to try your hand at fishing
