6 Fantastic Mammoth Events to Add to Your 2020 Summer Calendar

Some events that normally take place in summer in the Mammoth Mountain area have been postponed or canceled due to the current public health crisis. However, some modifications have been made for early summer events, and some later summer events have been tentatively scheduled with the expectation they’ll be able to take place. The friendly folks at ASO Mammoth, your year-round one-stop shop for everything from fishing equipment and licenses to mountain biking gear and Mammoth ski rentals, offer all you need to know about six great events you’ll likely be able to enjoy at Mammoth this summer.

1. Mammoth Lakes Virtual Fun Rides

Virtual fun rides are accessible online for anyone wishing to get a better idea of what the Mammoth area typically has to offer. The virtual rides include unique participation opportunities and awards in various categories. Tickets can be purchased on the Mammoth Lakes website.

2. Fred Hall Fishing Derby

Visit the Mammoth Lakes Basin with your fishing gear in tow, and you’ll be all set for this event. All you have to do to participate is bring your catch to Rick’s Sports Center. You’ll then have a chance to win a prize package. The rules are simple—the biggest fish wins!

Date: Sunday, June 21st

Related event: Trout Fest at Hot Creek Hatchery on Saturday, June 27th. This is a family-friendly event, but the fishing is for kids 15 and younger. All gear is provided.

3. Fourth of July Festivities in The Village at Mammoth

Fourth of July festivities in the Mammoth area are enjoyable for everyone. Mammoth’s annual Independence Day event typically includes fireworks, chihuahua races, performances by various entertainers, and live music. There’s also a picnic planned for the second day of this free event.

4. Mammoth JazzFest

Relax and take in the sounds of jazz and similar musical genres at Mammoth JazzFest. This two-day event includes a wine walk to raise money for musicians at local high schools, eclectic foods, and various interactive activities mixed in with live jazz performances.

5. Mammoth VillageFest

This non-ticketed event includes live music, a specially designated VIP area, outdoor bars, barbecue competitions, and an assortment of other fun and engaging family activities.

6. Mammoth Margarita Festival

If you’re planning an adults-only visit to the Mammoth area this summer, add the Mammoth Margarita Festival to your agenda. It’s a palate-pleasing event that includes tequila tasting and nearly a hundred additional tasting opportunities. You’ll also be able to enjoy talented local bands and performers.

Related event: The Mammoth Wine Weekend & Sunset Summit Party, which is scheduled from Thursday, August 13th through Sunday, August 16th, will include a wine walk and champagne brunch.
